I agree that the northern shiverpeaks have some very pretty, serene vistas. It blows me away when I'm out there.

Run the Great Northern Wall mission with anyone who can run 100% of the time. When you trigger the cut, run north through the gap that the charr come through and keep running north and east.
Eventually you'll get to an area that nobody thought to quite finish. There's a cathedral that's all black and the area in/around it is all black (no textures) too. If you look north you see the end of the world. Spooky for those of us who missed the early game testing.

We were suppose to be doing the Ventari's Refuge quest "Blood and Smoke", when we decided go pass the druid and continue exploring the area.
Found an area with a Balthazar shrine and teaming with Jungle Trolls. Within this almost closed area was an out of way vine branch bridge that led to another closed off area with wind riders and a collector named "Agrippa Stonehands".
A nice, out of the way, quiet area to explore.

Ohhh! Speculation! Speculation! These areas may have/will play a role eventually. If they used to, then now they have been scrapped, Anet forgot to remove those areas, or meant to leave them around for amusement. Perhaps they're areas for secret rifts? At the stroke of midnight, perhaps a rift opens for mere seconds...nah...
I'ma check the area out with my Presearing Ele. I haven't ever found the bear quest, so...

Does anyone know where the place with candles is? I know this is vague, but I don't know what else to say about this spot.

=P All shiverpeak areas look pretty similar to me, although there are quite a few nice scenery spots, most notably in Mineral Springs. Theres a small cliff where it looks like an avalanche had stopped halfway, and when you stand beneath it some frost wurms pop up .
Also, i've been travelling Tyria unconvering the map while waiting for chapter two and i've taken some interesting screens =].
I'll edit them in later as imageshack seems to have frozen for me =\.
This is DeathDealer's spot i assume, yes the view there is immensely deep and beautiful.
These screens give but a glimpse, you really MUST be there yourself. It is truly breathtaking.

Wow.. This thread is so neat! It inspired me to go exploring myself! I don't have a screenshot, but if you go south westst of Temple of ages, there is a portal. Instead of going in the portal, I went east, near Kessex Peak. There I came upon some lvl 19 Forest Minotaurs, and the first one I killed dropped a blue Sundering Piercing Axe of Defense. It was precious, 10/5 sundering, and had +4 armor. This seems odd to me since I have never seen a blue item that's precious and had 2 mods on it. Also, I found a level 28 Warrior boss Forest Minotaur named Rage Maulhoof. Check it out sometime!

Found another last night! I was solo sight-seeing and headed south-east from Ice Tooth Cave. Dodging dryders, I saw 4 green NCPs on the map so I investigated. At the top of a steep slope was a small dwarven village with two healers and two warriors standing guard. Shortly thereafter, every dryder in the world headed up the slope at us.
They came in waves of 3-4, sometimes 3 waves at once. The dwarven warriors quickly fell, but the healers would dart forward to heal me and dart back out of agro range.
After what seemed like forever, we defeated the dryders. The dwarves never said a word, but I could tell that they were grateful.

I noticed someone mentioned the Temple of Balthazar hidden waaaay back in The Falls. I found it today, and thought it was pretty amazing. I would have taken more, but about that time, a big 'ol mob of Jungle Trolls did me in.

Some places 'weird' :
In Ascalon (pre searing) : small groto estway from Balth statue, surronded by golems. The music changes when you enter it, yet nth happens. Seems to be the grotto in which the lone man gives a elementalist quest in post searing Ascalon.
In Ascalon (post searing) : Where has gone Barradin's place ? Some kind of path seems to be going to it from Rin, but the path is blocked by a wall
In Northern Shiverpeaks : There is a place between Beacon's Pearch and the Frost Gate, surronded by a wall. But no entrance ...
in Kryta : on the beach (north from Beetletun) you can see a wonderful castle. Yet no way to cross the water. (Lots of small islands with or without buildings are not reachable in Kryta)
Between Kryta and Maaguma : there is a way to go from ToA to Maguuma by foot, you have to fight your way through and area where you can find 4 bone dragons and 1 boss. It seems that this place, according to the name and what you can be told in ToA, was a kind of shelter for the former kritian royal family , but has now been invaded by hordes of undeads.
In Maguuma : the usual Bath's temple, known by too few people (the one Brother Doug speaks about. Monsters here are up to lvl 18, you can go north too from Balth Temple)
Between Destiny's Gorge and Thirsty River, there is place surrounded by rocks, the only entrance seems to be a teleporter. Problem : the other teleporter (the one you could take to enter that place) is inactivated ...
In Dreadnought's Drift : northway from the Wurm you can capture Feast of Corruption from, there is a group of Ranger/Arcanist protecting a 'lost chest' you don't need a key to open. Found gold and blue items there.
In Tasca's Demise : there is a closed door though which you can see a kind of path. Problem : no lever, no barrel ...
Eastway from Marhan's Grotto is a giant ship at bay (of course no way to enter it) like the ones the dwarves use to travel on icy rivers.

i have a feeling that all these areas in "the wilds" area of the map will one day become significant in some way. i've noticed that my third character had absolutley no cities or towns unlocked in the "the wilds." too many people skip "the wilds" area (which is about 1/3 the map) by getting ran straight towards droks or the desert. maybe all these areas in the wilds will one day have something cool to encourage people not to skip this area in the game.
just my thoughts...
